Role Overview
We are seeking a veteran Senior Data Architect with a minimum of 15 years of experience to lead a high-stakes data modernization and migration initiative within a premier financial services environment. This role is designed for a technical visionary who can bridge the gap between legacy MS SQL Server environments and modern cloud-native data platforms like Snowflake. As the financial sector continues to evolve in 2026, the ability to rationalize, clean, and migrate complex data assets is paramount for maintaining a competitive edge and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the comprehensive analysis, cleanup, and optimization of large-scale MS SQL Server and Azure SQL databases to ensure data integrity and readiness for migration.
- Architect and implement end-to-end data migration strategies to transition structured data from Azure-based SQL platforms to Snowflake.
- Identify and remediate deep-seated data quality issues, including schema inconsistencies, data duplication, and inefficient indexing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the new data architecture aligns with financial services standards, governance, and strict compliance requirements.
- Design scalable data models that support advanced analytics, business intelligence, and AI-driven financial reporting.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams, ensuring best practices in SQL optimization and cloud architecture are followed.
- Develop automated scripts and workflows to facilitate seamless data movement and validation across environments.
Required Qualifications
- 10-15+ years of professional experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or a closely related technical leadership role.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including complex query optimization, stored procedures, and advanced schema design.
- Extensive hands-on experience within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, specifically Azure SQL and MS SQL Server.
- Proven track record of successfully leading enterprise-level data migrations to Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.
- Deep domain expertise in the Financial Services industry, with a strong understanding of data governance and security protocols.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
