About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Data & Integration Architect to lead data modeling and integration strategy for large-scale system modernization initiatives. The role focuses on transforming legacy mainframe data structures into modern data models while designing scalable integration frameworks. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data architecture, legacy system analysis, and modern data platforms, along with experience leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate data modeling and integration processes.

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture and system integration within OLTP environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM IMS, DB2 for z/OS, and COBOL copybooks
  • Experience reverse engineering legacy mainframe data structures into modern schemas
  • Strong expertise in logical data modeling (ERD, entities, relationships, cardinality, PK/FK design)
  • 5+ years of experience designing physical data models for relational and document databases (SQL/MongoDB)
  • Strong understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and aggregate-oriented modeling
  • Experience designing REST APIs, event-driven architectures, Kafka/MQ, and CDC pipelines
  • Experience with ELT processes, data transformation, and data validation workflows
  • Experience building real-time data processing pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of embedding vs referencing strategies and schema versioning
  • Experience creating data dictionaries, ERDs, and ETL mapping specifications
  • Scripting experience using Python or similar languages
  • Experience working with AI-assisted development tools and validating AI-generated outputs
  • Strong analytical skills to map legacy structures into business-driven data models
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication skills

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in insurance domain (policy lifecycle, rating, coverages)
  • Experience with Domain-Driven Design (bounded contexts, event-driven design)
  • Experience integrating heterogeneous data sources (IMS, DB2, application layers)
  • Experience with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar
  • Experience with modern cloud-based data platforms

Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain logical and physical data models for modernized systems
  • Reverse engineer legacy IMS and DB2 data structures into business-aligned models
  • Translate COBOL copybooks into modern schema definitions
  • Define data integration strategies including APIs, event streaming, and CDC pipelines
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, ERDs, and integration documentation
  • Design scalable and efficient data models using relational and document databases
  • Guide and validate AI-driven data modeling and reverse engineering processes
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to validate data models
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across systems
  • Drive modernization of legacy data architecture into scalable, future-ready solutions
