Role Overview
The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is a critical role responsible for the comprehensive support, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise-level database systems. This position ensures that all data architectures meet stringent departmental and security standards, particularly those mandated by the Agency for State Technology (AST). The successful candidate will lead database design, development, and performance tuning across a diverse array of platforms including DB2, SQL Server, and Oracle.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform daily database administration and operational support to ensure 24/7 availability and reliability of critical systems.
- Plan, design, and implement complex database structures that align with enterprise data standards and application architectures.
- Monitor and tune database performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing proactive solutions to maintain high throughput.
- Develop and maintain rigorous database administration procedures, technical documentation, and disaster recovery plans.
- Conduct thorough SQL code reviews to ensure efficiency, security, and adherence to best practices.
- Support multi-platform environments including DB2 for z/OS, Microsoft SQL Server (2008 R2/2012), and Oracle 10g and above.
- Mentor and train junior technical staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on change management, verification testing, and system monitoring.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of combined professional experience in database administration.
- Advanced expertise in DB2 for z/OS administration, including integration, performance management, and subsystem point-in-time recovery.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database environments.
- In-depth knowledge of JCL, z/OS integrated platforms, CA GEN, ISPF, and ASG Scheduler.
- Familiarity with FDOT integrated database infrastructure and Financial Management applications is highly preferred.
- Experience with Windows Servers, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, and Azure cloud tools.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for formal education.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, secure enterprise data architectures.
Special Requirements
FL Locals only; No relocation; Must have State of Florida (FDOT) experience.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
