Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Desktop Engineer to join our team. This role requires a strong background in IT infrastructure design, build, deployment, and support, with a specific focus on desktop, laptop, and peripheral management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solutions, automation, scripting, and enterprise device management suites. This is an on-site position at the CalSTRS headquarters.

Minimum Mandatory Qualifications:

  • IT Infrastructure Experience: At least five (5) years of hands-on experience with IT infrastructure design, build, deployment, and support, focusing on desktops, laptops, and peripherals management.
  • DaaS Solutions: At least five (5) years of experience designing, building, deploying, and managing Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solutions such as AWS WorkSpaces or Windows 365 (Cloud PC).
  • Automation & Scripting: At least five (5) years of experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell or Python to automate deployments and system builds.
  • Device Management: At least seven (7) years of experience performing device management using enterprise management suites like Microsoft Intune, SCCM (MECM), and JAMF.
  • Operational Support: At least ten (10) years of experience providing operational support, including maintenance, patching, provisioning, software packaging, deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution for Windows and macOS devices and peripherals.

Technical Qualifications:

  • Certifications: One or more relevant certifications are preferred/required (e.g., Microsoft Windows Server Administrator, Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator). Diploma and certification PDF copies are required.
  • Consulting Experience: Experience providing consulting services to State and/or Federal agencies in the USA.
  • Endpoint Security: Experience implementing endpoint security solutions (e.g., BitLocker, Microsoft Defender).
  • Policy Migration: Experience migrating Active Directory (AD) Group Policy Objects (GPO) to Microsoft Intune policies.
  • OS Support: Experience managing and supporting devices running Windows 11 24H2 (or higher) and macOS 15 (Sequoia) (or higher).

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, deploy, and support desktop/laptop estates and peripherals.
  • Implement and manage DaaS solutions (AWS WorkSpaces, Windows 365 Cloud PC).
  • Automate deployments and system builds using PowerShell or Python scripting.
  • Perform device management using Intune, SCCM/MECM, and JAMF.
  • Provide operational support activities: provisioning, patching, software packaging/deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution for Windows and macOS endpoints.
  • Implement endpoint security and assist with AD to Intune policy migrations.

Work Requirements:

  • Consultant must be able to perform all work on-site at the CalSTRS headquarters facility in West Sacramento, CA.
  • Candidates must submit diploma and certification PDFs and complete the attached skill matrix and reference form.

Special Requirements

Compensation & Location

Salary: $55 – $70 per year (Estimated)

Location: Sacramento, CA
