Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Desktop Engineer for an on-site role at the CalSTRS headquarters in Sacramento, CA. The consultant will be responsible for the design, build, deployment, and support of desktop and laptop environments, including peripherals. This role requires extensive experience with Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solutions, automation, and enterprise management suites. You will play a key part in managing endpoint security, migrating policies, and supporting the latest Windows and macOS operating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, deploy, and support desktop/laptop estates and peripherals.
- Implement and manage Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solutions such as AWS WorkSpaces or Windows 365 (Cloud PC).
- Automate deployments and system builds using Power or Python scripting.
- Perform device management using enterprise management suites like Microsoft Intune, SCCM (MECM), and JAMF.
- Provide operational support including maintenance, patching, provisioning, software packaging, deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution for Windows and macOS endpoints.
- Implement endpoint security solutions (e.g., BitLocker, Microsoft Defender).
- Assist with migrating Active Directory (AD) Group Policy Objects (GPO) to Microsoft Intune policies.
- Manage and support devices running Windows 11 24H2 (or higher) and macOS 15 (Sequoia) (or higher).
Minimum Mandatory Qualifications:
- At least five (5) years hands-on experience with IT infrastructure design, build, deployment, and support focusing on desktops, laptops and peripherals management.
- At least five (5) years experience designing, building, deploying, and managing Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solutions such as AWS WorkSpaces or Windows 365 (Cloud PC).
- At least five (5) years experience with automation and scripting (Power or Python) to automate deployments and system builds.
- At least seven (7) years experience performing device management using enterprise management suites such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM (MECM), and JAMF.
- At least ten (10) years experience providing operational support including maintenance, patching, provisioning, software packaging, deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution for Windows and macOS devices and peripherals.
Technical Qualifications:
- One or more relevant certifications preferred/required (examples): Microsoft Windows Server Administrator, Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator.
- Experience providing consulting services to State and/or Federal agencies in the USA.
- Experience implementing endpoint security solutions (e.g., BitLocker, Microsoft Defender).
- Experience migrating Active Directory (AD) Group Policy Objects (GPO) to Microsoft Intune policies.
- Experience managing and supporting devices running Windows 11 24H2 (or higher) and macOS 15 (Sequoia) (or higher).

Compensation & Location
Salary: $55 – $75 per year (Estimated)
