Role Overview
We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Go Developer with over 12 years of professional experience to join our rapidly expanding IoT and Automotive Solutions platform team in Alpharetta, Georgia. This is a critical role where you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of platform service development, ranging from initial design and architecture to implementation, rigorous testing, and global deployment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can navigate complex projects from concept to production with minimal guidance, demonstrating a proactive problem-solving mindset and a strong sense of ownership. You will be working at the intersection of high-performance backend engineering and cutting-edge automotive connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and microservices using the Go (Golang) programming language.
- MQTT Integration: Apply detailed knowledge of MQTT protocols (both MQTT 3.x and 5) to build and manage server-side MQTT services for connecting IoT devices and handling massive data streams from gateways and brokers.
- API Development: Implement and maintain robust RESTful and gRPC APIs to facilitate seamless data exchange and service integration across the automotive platform.
- Data Handling: Develop sophisticated systems for reliable data acquisition, transformation, and processing from diverse and high-volume sources.
- Performance & Scalability: Optimize applications for maximum efficiency, leveraging Go’s native concurrency models to handle heavy loads and high message volumes typical of automotive telemetry.
- Distributed Systems: Build and implement solutions for workload balancing and distribution between service instances to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
- Testing & Quality: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code; conduct thorough unit and integration testing; participate in peer code reviews; and ensure full CI/CD integration.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, QA, and Frontend Engineering, to define architecture and troubleshoot complex issues.
- IoT Focus: Design and support IoT connectivity solutions, integrating various protocols such as MQTT, OPC, and Kafka.
- DevOps: Utilize containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for the deployment and ongoing operation of services in a cloud-native environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering with a significant focus on backend development.
- Expert-level proficiency in Go (Golang) and its standard library.
- Deep understanding of IoT protocols, specifically MQTT 3.x and 5, and their application in real-world scenarios.
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and high-concurrency environments.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of API design (REST, gRPC) and data processing frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
- Must be local to Alpharetta, GA, and possess a valid Driver’s License.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
