Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer for a contract position in Richmond, VA. This role is ideal for local candidates with recent project experience, focusing on financial crime and compliance platforms within AWS cloud environments. The engagement is for an initial 8-month contract with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust enterprise applications using Java and related technologies.
- Work extensively with Actimize platforms (ActOne, STAR, AIS) to support and enhance financial crime and compliance initiatives.
- Develop, optimize, and manage SQL queries, ensuring efficient database interactions.
- Build, deploy, and maintain applications within AWS cloud infrastructure, leveraging cloud-native services.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, business analysts, and other developers, to design scalable and efficient solutions.
- Participate actively in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and deployment processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Java development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with Actimize platforms (ActOne, STAR, AIS).
- Strong proficiency in Java programming language.
- Solid experience with SQL for database development and querying.
- Experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred / Secondary Skills:
- Experience with Python.
- Familiarity with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices for CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.

Compensation:
$60/hr (estimated range $60-$75/hr for 2026)
