Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Java Developer to join our team in New York, NY. This is an onsite contract position requiring 8+ years of experience in Core Java and Advanced Java development. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying complex technical solutions within a cross-functional team, focusing on scalable database applications and system designs. You will collaborate closely with System Architects and the Project Management Office (PMO) to meet rapidly changing deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Systems Architects and Software Team Leads to design and deploy technical solutions.
- Analyze complex information to design, develop, and troubleshoot database applications.
- Review functional requirements and document technical program, subsystem, and system designs.
- Prepare project task descriptions and provide accurate effort estimates for development work.
- Perform new development, maintenance fixes, and enhancements to meet evolving business requirements.
- Develop and execute plans for both automated and manual unit and integration tests.
- Mentor junior software developers and provide technical guidance to Information Technology (IT) staff.
- Assist in troubleshooting application issues across Production, Quality Assurance (QA), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environments.
Essential Skills:
- 8-10 years of experience in Core Java and Advanced Java development.
- Strong proficiency in Spring Framework, JDBC, and JPA/Hibernate.
- Solid understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, and API Design.
- Hands-on experience with Relational Database principles and SQL.
- Expertise in Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows distributed computing environments.
- Proficiency with Java Integrated Development Environments (IDE), specifically IntelliJ IDEA.
- Strong experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Desirable Skills:
- Professional background in Securities, Banking, or Financial Services.
- Experience with Oracle databases and Message Queues (e.g., Apache Kafka).
- Familiarity with documentation and issue management tools like Confluence, Wiki, and Jira.
- Experience working in a Desktop Linux environment.
