Role Summary: Senior Mainframe Developer
Novia Infotech LLC is seeking a seasoned Senior Mainframe Developer for a critical onsite role in Alpharetta, GA. This position is ideal for a technical expert who possesses a deep understanding of legacy mainframe environments while also embracing modern programming paradigms like Python. You will be a key contributor to the development, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise-scale applications that form the backbone of our client’s financial and operational infrastructure. This role requires a blend of technical prowess, architectural insight, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a global virtual team environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Application Development: Design, code, test, and implement complex mainframe application changes using Enterprise COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2. You will ensure that all developments meet high standards of performance and reliability.
- Modernization and Automation: A unique aspect of this role involves developing and integrating Python components to support application modernization efforts. You will use Python to automate manual processes and bridge the gap between mainframe and distributed systems.
- Full SDLC Participation: Actively participate in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from initial requirement gathering and architectural design to deployment and post-production support.
- Technical Leadership: Engage in high-level technical and architectural discussions, providing recommendations on best practices for mainframe optimization and system integration.
- Code Quality and Mentorship: Perform rigorous code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards. You will also troubleshoot and resolve complex application defects and production issues in a timely manner.
- Global Collaboration: Work seamlessly within a global virtual team, coordinating with developers and stakeholders located in New York and India to ensure project alignment and timely delivery.
Required Technical Skills
- 8 to 10 years of intensive experience as a Senior Mainframe Developer in an enterprise environment.
- Expertise in Enterprise COBOL (System Z) and hands-on experience with JCL, CICS, and DB2 application development.
- Proficiency in developing Python components for integration or automation within a mainframe context.
- Solid understanding of Mainframe DB2 database design and application development.
- Experience working with version control and deployment tools common in mainframe environments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
