Role Overview
The Senior Network Engineer will serve as a technical lead within a large-scale, multi-site enterprise environment, focusing on the design, implementation, and optimization of complex network infrastructures. This position is strictly onsite in Sacramento, CA, and requires a candidate who can demonstrate deep architectural expertise rather than just operational support. The successful candidate will be responsible for bridging the gap between on-premises data centers and cloud environments, specifically AWS, while ensuring robust security through advanced firewalling and network access control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and deployment of VMware NSX Federation across multiple enterprise sites to ensure seamless connectivity and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Implement and manage micro-segmentation and firewalling policies within the NSX environment to enhance the organization’s security posture.
- Design, configure, and optimize Aruba Wireless solutions to provide high-performance connectivity for a mobile workforce.
- Manage Network Access Control (NAC) and authentication protocols using Aruba ClearPass to secure the network perimeter.
- Architect and maintain AWS networking components, including VPCs, complex routing tables, and security groups, ensuring high availability in hybrid cloud scenarios.
- Oversee Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and utilize Panorama for centralized policy management, threat prevention, and troubleshooting.
- Provide lead-level technical guidance during network migrations, upgrades, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Analyze and resolve complex network performance issues, utilizing advanced packet analysis and monitoring tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to align network architecture with broader business objectives and security requirements.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of overall networking experience with at least 5 years focused on enterprise-level environments.
- At least 2 years of hands-on lead-level design experience specifically with VMware NSX, AWS, and Palo Alto technologies.
- Mandatory expertise in NSX Federation (multi-site) and micro-segmentation.
- Proven track record in designing and configuring Aruba Wireless and ClearPass systems.
- Strong proficiency in AWS networking, including VPC peering, Transit Gateways, and Direct Connect.
- Expert-level knowledge of Palo Alto NGFW and Panorama management.
- Ability to clearly articulate and defend architectural decisions regarding network security and design.
Special Requirements
Visa: H1B, H4 EAD, GC and USC. Only local California candidates (mandatory). 100% onsite in Sacramento, CA. Candidate must be able to explain NSX Federation, ClearPass, and Palo Alto design decisions during screening.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
