Senior Oracle CPQ Tech Lead / Technical Architect
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Oracle CPQ Tech Lead / Technical Architect to join our team in Irving, TX. This is a pivotal role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, architectural vision, and leadership capabilities. As a Technical Architect, you will be responsible for the overall design and successful implementation of Oracle CPQ Cloud (formerly BigMachines) solutions for our enterprise clients. You will serve as the primary technical point of contact, ensuring that the CPQ platform is leveraged to its full potential to drive business value and sales efficiency.
Architectural Leadership and Design
- System Architecture: You will lead the design of complex CPQ solutions, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives. This involves applying software engineering best practices and design patterns to create robust architectural frameworks that support complex product configurations and pricing models.
- Configuration and Commerce: You will oversee the development of configuration rules, commerce processes, and document designer templates. Your expertise will ensure that the CPQ system accurately reflects complex product structures, ensuring a seamless quote-to-cash process.
- Advanced Scripting: You will be the primary expert in BML (BigMachines Extensibility Language) and BMQL, writing high-performance scripts to handle complex business logic, data manipulations, and custom integrations.
- Integration Strategy: A key part of this role is managing the integration of Oracle CPQ with other enterprise systems, particularly Salesforce.com and various ERP platforms. You will design and implement secure and efficient integrations using SOAP and REST web services, XML, and XSL, ensuring data consistency across the enterprise.
- UI/UX Customization: You will lead the customization of the CPQ user interface using CPQ JS and CSS, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience for sales users that aligns with corporate branding and usability standards.
Team Management and Project Delivery
- Mentorship and Guidance: You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of developers, both onshore and offshore. This includes conducting code reviews, providing design guidance, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Project Planning: You will collaborate with project managers to define project scope, timelines, and resource requirements. You will be responsible for reporting weekly accomplishments, managing technical risks, and implementing mitigation actions to ensure project success.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: You will work closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to gather requirements, define technical specifications, and ensure that the delivered solution meets business needs. You will facilitate technical workshops and design sessions to align all parties on the architectural vision.
- Quality Assurance: You will drive quality best practices, including unit testing, automated testing, and continuous integration, to ensure a defect-free delivery and high system availability.
Required Technical and Professional Skills
- 10+ years of extensive experience in Oracle CPQ Cloud (BigMachines) implementation and architecture.
- Expert-level proficiency in BML, BMQL, XML, XSL, and Web Services (SOAP/REST).
- Proven experience in integrating Oracle CPQ with Salesforce.com and ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of CPQ JS and CSS for UI customization.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
- Oracle CPQ Implementation Professional certification is highly desired.
- Experience working in a global delivery model with onshore, onsite, and offshore teams.

Special Requirements

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)
