Role: Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Team Lead with a minimum of 8 years of deep expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Database technologies. This role is crucial for leading enterprise-scale application development, modernization, and support programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical leadership skills, extensive hands-on database architecture experience, and the proven ability to drive delivery excellence across cross-functional teams. This position requires a blend of technical depth, people leadership, and effective stakeholder management to deliver high-quality, scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions within complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Architecture: Lead the design and development of robust Oracle database solutions utilizing PL/SQL, SQL, packages, procedures, functions, triggers, cursors, and collections. Define and enforce critical database design standards, coding guidelines, naming conventions, and best practices. Drive key database architecture decisions to ensure scalability, security, performance, resiliency, and maintainability. Conduct thorough reviews and approvals of solution designs, PL/SQL code, data models, and technical documentation. Mentor junior developers on PL/SQL performance optimization, query tuning, indexing strategies, and coding best practices.
  • Database Development & Modernization: Modernize legacy database logic by refactoring monolithic PL/SQL into modular, reusable components. Design and implement efficient data access patterns, APIs/contracts at the database layer, and robust error handling mechanisms. Support initiatives involving data platform upgrades, schema redesign, re-partitioning, and storage optimization. Collaborate closely with architects and product teams to translate complex business requirements into efficient data models and database services.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Diagnose and resolve complex performance issues using advanced tools and techniques such as execution plans, AWR/ASH reports, SQL Trace/TKPROF, and optimizer statistics. Optimize SQL queries, join strategies, index design (including B-Tree and bitmap indexes), partitioning, and materialized views. Enhance batch performance through the effective use of bulk collect/forall, pipelined functions, parallel execution, and other advanced PL/SQL tuning techniques.
  • Production Support & Reliability: Lead and coordinate L3 production support for Oracle database components, including in-depth incident analysis and root-cause resolution. Implement proactive monitoring and performance baselining, and participate in on-call and critical support rotations as needed. Ensure system stability through rigorous release governance, well-defined rollback strategies, and comprehensive deployment readiness checks.
  • Security, Compliance & Data Governance: Ensure strict adherence to enterprise security standards, including the principle of least privilege, role-based access control, comprehensive auditing, and secure coding practices. Implement necessary measures for data protection, encryption (where applicable), data masking, and compliance with relevant regulations. Ensure the database layer consistently follows secure development lifecycle practices.
  • Delivery Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Plan and meticulously track delivery progress across sprints and releases, effectively managing dependencies and risks to ensure predictable outcomes. Lead cross-functional collaboration efforts with QA, DevOps, application teams, business stakeholders, and vendors. Provide regular, clear status updates and ensure alignment on scope, timelines, and quality targets.
