Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Performance Test Engineer to join our engineering team in San Francisco, CA. This role is vital for ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our enterprise-grade applications. You will be responsible for the entire performance engineering lifecycle, from initial requirement gathering to final analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the utility industry and experience working within an onsite-offshore delivery model. This position requires a proactive individual who can identify bottlenecks before they reach production and provide actionable recommendations for system optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly support and execute day-to-day performance testing activities within QA and production regions.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams (Agile and Waterfall) and IT architects to validate non-functional requirements.
  • Utilize a variety of testing techniques including single user profiling, spike, stress, endurance, and failover testing.
  • Analyze and implement engineering suggestions to improve efficiencies and increase system responsiveness.
  • Assess risks associated with development aspects and define comprehensive performance testing approaches.
  • Develop and maintain automated performance test scripts using industry-standard tools.
  • Gather metrics and develop dashboards/reports that clearly communicate performance analysis and results.
  • Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Monitor system performance using AppDynamics, CloudWatch, and other engineering tools.

Technical Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working within the SDLC/TDLC.
  • 6+ years of dedicated testing experience specifically within the Performance Testing/Engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience with tools such as LoadRunner, LoadRunner Cloud, JMeter, or NeoLoad.
  • Strong proficiency in coding languages such as Java or Python for script development.
  • Hands-on experience with API REST/SOAP testing using Postman or SOAP UI.
  • Expertise in performance monitoring tools like AppDynamics and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Experience with CI/CD techniques and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with the utility industry, utility operations, and ADMS is a significant asset.

Candidates must be comfortable working in an onsite-offshore model and must be available to work within the PST time zone. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively bridge the gap between technical findings and business impact. You will be expected to stay current with industry standards and ensure that our technology stack remains competitive and efficient. This role offers a challenging environment where you can influence the architectural direction of high-traffic utility applications.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $165,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: San Francisco, CA
