Position Summary
Software People Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power BI Specialist for a long-term, 12+ month contract opportunity in North Chesterfield, Virginia. This is a critical onsite role starting from day one, focused on designing, developing, and maintaining advanced business intelligence solutions. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical lead in transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. A significant portion of this role involves supporting Electronic Health Records (EHR) requests, requiring a deep understanding of medical data and strict adherence to HIPAA compliance regulations.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement sophisticated Power BI dashboards and reports that provide clear visualizations of key business metrics, trends, and operational performance.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to ensure efficient data retrieval and transformation from various source systems.
- Build and maintain robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to integrate disparate data sources into centralized data warehouses.
- Apply advanced dimensional modeling techniques (Star and Snowflake schemas) to design scalable and performant data models tailored for analytics and reporting.
- Collaborate extensively with clinical and administrative stakeholders to gather detailed requirements and deliver BI solutions that align with organizational objectives.
- Ensure the highest levels of data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance, particularly when handling sensitive medical information under HIPAA standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized codebase using version control systems like GIT and manage deployment cycles through Azure DevOps (ADO) Pipelines.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance on BI best practices to junior team members and stakeholders.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing Power BI dashboards and reports for enterprise-level organizations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and optimizing T-SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience building and maintaining ETL processes using SSIS.
- At least 2 years of direct experience working with medical data and a thorough understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements.
- At least 2 years of experience in dimensional modeling for data warehousing and analytics.
- Proven ability to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Experience with GIT and ADO Pipelines for source control and release management.
Work Environment and Interview Process
This position is strictly onsite in North Chesterfield, VA. Candidates must be comfortable working in a professional office environment from the first day of the assignment. The interview process will include a mandatory in-person interview; therefore, local candidates or those willing to travel for an interview are highly preferred. Compensation & Location
Salary: $125,000 – $175,000 per year (Estimated)
