Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior QA Test Automation Engineer with a specialized focus on the Banking and Payments domain to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This role is critical for ensuring the reliability and security of high-throughput payment systems. You will be responsible for driving quality engineering across complex payment flows, including Wires, SWIFT, FedNow, and ISO 20022 standards. The ideal candidate will design robust automation frameworks and embed quality into the CI/CD pipeline for mission-critical financial systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Java, C#, or Python with tools like Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
  • Implement comprehensive test strategies for API, UI, and database layers, ensuring high coverage and stability.
  • Validate end-to-end payment journeys, including initiation, routing, posting, and reconciliation for real-time rails like RTP and FedNow.
  • Verify message schemas such as ISO 20022 (pain.001, pacs.008) and SWIFT MX mapping.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions with strict quality gating.
  • Execute non-functional testing, including performance, soak, and resilience testing to ensure system stability under load.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement shift-left testing practices and synthetic test data management.

Technical Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of experience in software test automation with at least 5 years in the banking or payments sector.
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages: Java, C#, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools like RestAssured and Postman.
  • Deep understanding of event-driven systems using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) for data validation and masking.
  • Familiarity with observability tools like Grafana and Splunk for monitoring system telemetry during test runs.

Domain Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of SWIFT/ISO 20022 standards and FedNow principles.
  • Experience with fraud and risk controls, AML, and sanctions screening (OFAC).
  • Understanding of secure coding practices and regulatory compliance in the financial industry.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $125,000 – $175,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Charlotte, NC
