Role Overview: Senior QA Test Engineer (Banking & Mainframe)
SysMind is currently seeking a highly experienced Functional Test Engineer to join our team for a critical project within the banking domain. This role is specifically designed for a professional who possesses a deep understanding of financial systems, particularly in the areas of Sanctions screening and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance. As the financial landscape evolves toward 2026, the necessity for rigorous testing of compliance platforms has never been more vital. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end testing lifecycle, ensuring that all systems meet the stringent requirements set by global regulatory bodies such as OFAC, FATF, and the EU/UN. The Cincinnati office provides a dynamic work environment located near the heart of the city’s financial district. - Develop and execute comprehensive test cases for AML, KYC, and Sanctions Screening systems.
- Validate screening rules, alert generation, and false-positive handling within platforms like Actimize, SAS AML, and Oracle FCCM.
- Perform data validation on inputs from sanctions lists and customer data feeds to ensure system accuracy.
- Support SIT, functional integration, and regression testing across multiple banking platforms.
- Log and manage defects using tools like qTest and Digital.ai, collaborating closely with development and compliance teams.
In addition to functional testing, this position requires significant expertise in Mainframe environments. The engineer will be tasked with ensuring the quality of batch and online CICS applications. This involves working with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM components. The candidate must be proficient in using mainframe tools such as File-Aid, File Manager, SPUFI, and Endevor to prepare test data and execute jobs. Analyzing abends from the JES spool and debugging using Xpediter are daily responsibilities. The role also involves reviewing COBOL and DB2 code to trace logic and identify the root cause of defects. This is a 100% on-site position in Cincinnati, OH, requiring a professional who can thrive in a collaborative, high-stakes environment. In addition to functional testing, the candidate must possess strong data validation skills, ensuring that inputs from various sanctions lists and customer data feeds are processed accurately. The position also requires a strong background in Mainframe testing. The Quality Engineer will ensure the stability of batch and online CICS mainframe applications by designing and executing tests across COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM components. This involves preparing test scenarios, preparing test data using tools like File-Aid or File Manager, and analyzing abends from the JES spool. Debugging using tools like Xpediter and reviewing COBOL/DB2 code are essential tasks to identify root causes of defects.
