Role Overview: Senior SDET
The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is a critical role within our engineering department, specifically focused on our San Antonio, TX location. This onsite position requires a professional who can bridge the gap between development and quality assurance. As a Senior SDET, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks that ensure the robustness and reliability of our web applications and API services. This role demands a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and a proactive approach to identifying potential bottlenecks in the testing process. You will work in a collaborative environment where your technical expertise will directly impact the quality of the products delivered to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive automated testing strategies for complex web applications and microservices.
- Develop and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Selenium and other industry-standard tools.
- Perform rigorous API testing and web services validation to ensure data integrity and system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and product managers, to define testing requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with the development team to facilitate timely resolutions.
- Lead the transition towards a continuous testing model within a CI/CD pipeline environment.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and provide guidance on best practices in test automation and SDET methodologies.
- Ensure high standards of code quality and documentation for all automation scripts and test plans.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure that automated tests are maintainable and efficient.
- Stay updated with the latest trends in software testing and automation to continuously improve our testing processes.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive experience in API testing and web services testing is mandatory.
- Proven proficiency in using Selenium for web application automation across different browsers.
- In-depth knowledge of SDET methodologies and the ability to apply them in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Java, Python, or Ruby.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git and build tools like Maven or Jenkins.
- Experience with SQL and database testing is highly preferred for data validation.
- ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer Certification is considered a significant advantage.
- Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker is a plus.
