Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Tomcat Engineer with extensive experience in middleware platforms, specifically in Tomcat build and support activities. This role involves deploying Tomcat applications within Red Hat OpenShift container platforms and requires flexibility to work rotational night shifts. The engineer will be responsible for creating DNS URLs, managing Load Balancer requests, and ensuring CNAME creation for DNS. A strong understanding of Chef JSON files and Autosys jobs for server reboots is essential. The position also requires managing Y8 certificate creations for DB2 and ensuring PSE PROD servers are in ‘Break Glass’ status before Go-Live.
- Role: Senior Tomcat Engineer
- Location: Dallas, TX – Onsite
- Duration: 6 months (Contract)
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain large-scale Apache Tomcat installations, including upgrades, patching, and configuration management.
- Optimize JVM performance, thread pools, and connector settings for high availability and performance.
- Conduct vulnerability management, security scans, and implement hardened configurations for Tomcat environments.
- Troubleshoot complex service level issues and identify root causes in production environments.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate Tomcat with NGINX, Apache HTTPd, or other load balancers.
- Utilize scripting for automated deployments and routine maintenance tasks.
- Deploy Tomcat applications within Red Hat OpenShift container platforms.
- Create DNS URLs for all respective instances and manage Load Balancer requests with the network team.
- Perform CNAME creation for DNS.
- Understand and utilize Chef JSON files for configuration management.
- Configure Autosys jobs for scheduled server reboots (weekly and monthly).
- Manage Y8 certificate creations for DB2.
- Ensure PSE PROD servers are in ‘Break Glass’ status prior to Go-Live.
- Provide rotational night shift coverage as needed.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 6 years of experience in middleware platforms with a specialization in Tomcat build and support activities.
- Proficiency in deploying Tomcat applications in Red Hat OpenShift container platforms.
- Experience with Ansible and OpenShift is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with NGINX and Apache HTTPd.
- Strong understanding of Linux environments.
- Experience with scripting for automation.
- Knowledge of Chef JSON files.
- Experience with Autosys jobs for scheduling and automation.
- Familiarity with Y8 certificate creation for DB2.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Flexibility to work rotational night shifts.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $55 – $70 per year (Estimated)
