Role Overview
The Senior Workday Business Process Analyst for ERP Usability and Optimization is a critical role focused on bridging the gap between complex system functionality and end-user efficiency. In this position, you will be responsible for transforming user feedback and technical challenges into streamlined, high-performing business processes within the Workday ecosystem. This role is ideal for a professional who excels at root cause analysis and has a passion for improving the digital employee experience through data-driven insights and strategic process redesign. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the ERP system is not just a repository of data, but a tool that empowers the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract and categorize support tickets into themes to identify systemic root causes and recurring friction points.
- Map current-state processes using swim lane diagrams to pinpoint inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
- Conduct in-depth user interviews and job shadowing sessions to understand real-world system usage and pain points.
- Quantify process metrics, including step counts, cycle times, and handoff frequencies to measure current performance.
- Differentiate between issues stemming from training gaps, process flaws, or system design limitations.
- Facilitate collaborative workshops with stakeholders to define and design optimized future-state processes.
- Develop data-driven recommendations and identify “quick win” opportunities for immediate operational impact.
- Maintain visual management tools such as issue heat maps, Pareto charts, and prioritization matrices.
- Support organizational change management efforts to ensure high adoption of new processes and system updates.
- Produce clear documentation and presentations to communicate findings and progress to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 to 10+ years of experience in business process analysis or ERP optimization, specifically within large-scale environments.
- Extensive hands-on experience with the Workday ERP platform, including configuration and process flow management.
- Proven ability in process mapping and the application of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for operational improvement.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead assessments and drive consensus among diverse groups.
- Advanced data analysis and reporting capabilities to drive evidence-based decision-making.
- Strong background in Finance or HR business processes is highly preferred to understand the functional context of Workday.
- Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or a related process improvement discipline is a significant advantage.
Success Measures
- Successful identification of root causes for the majority of analyzed tickets within the first six months.
- Measurable reduction in process steps and handoffs across key workflows, leading to increased efficiency.
- Significant improvement in system adoption metrics and user satisfaction scores as measured by internal surveys.
- Delivery of an actionable, prioritized backlog that is fully accepted and championed by business stakeholders.
This position offers a hybrid work model, with a preference for candidates who can be onsite in Oakland County, Michigan, to foster closer collaboration with local teams and stakeholders. Compensation & Location
Salary: $125,000 – $165,000 per year (Estimated)
