Role Overview
VTekis Consulting LLC is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team in Washington, DC. This long-term role is perfect for a technical problem-solver who enjoys bridging the gap between development and operations. You will be responsible for building automated, resilient infrastructure and maintaining deep visibility into system performance. As the primary steward of the Dynatrace observability stack, you will ensure that distributed services remain highly available and performant through sophisticated CI/CD integration and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). This position requires a proactive approach to production stability in a hybrid AWS/Azure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, and Jenkins.
- Manage infrastructure provisioning via Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Act as the subject matter expert for Dynatrace, overseeing automated installation and tagging standards.
- Create advanced anomaly detection dashboards and distributed tracing configurations.
- Serve as a production on-call responder, performing deep-dive root cause analysis (RCA).
- Apply ITIL frameworks within ServiceNow to resolve complex incidents.
- Manage capacity planning, auto-scaling policies, and operational cost optimization.
- Execute resiliency and performance test plans to ensure system stability.
- Administer service accounts, digital certificates, and access permissions.
- Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to balance feature delivery velocity with platform stability.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve service reliability and performance.
- Automate repetitive tasks to reduce toil and improve operational efficiency.
Technical Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience in SRE, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles.
- Practical proficiency in AWS and Azure environments.
- Hands-on knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes/ECS.
- Mid-level expertise in Python scripting and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Strong foundational understanding of Linux systems and networking.
- Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Expertise in observability tools, specifically Dynatrace.
- Familiarity with version control systems, primarily Git.
- Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
Soft Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to participate in an on-call rotation and work outside standard business hours.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Special Requirements
Visa constraints: USC, GC, H4-EAD only. On-call rotation required.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $125,000 – $165,000 per year (Estimated)
