Role Overview: Site Reliability Engineer (Identity & Cloud)
As we progress into 2026, the role of a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) has evolved beyond simple uptime management into a sophisticated discipline of security-first infrastructure engineering. This specific position, identified by requisition 56460-1, is located in the heart of the technology sector in San Francisco, California. We are seeking a highly skilled SRE with a profound focus on Okta identity solutions and cloud-based access management to join our elite engineering team. This is an onsite role that requires a physical presence in our San Francisco office to collaborate directly with our core infrastructure and security groups.
Core Responsibilities and Technical Scope
The primary mission of this role is to architect, implement, and support robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) frameworks using Okta. In an era where identity is the new perimeter, your expertise in configuring complex OAuth, SAML, and OIDC flows will be paramount. You will be responsible for enforcing modern security principles, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using FIDO/WebAuthn standards and the comprehensive implementation of Zero-Trust security architectures across our hybrid cloud environment.
- Design and maintain enterprise-grade Okta IAM solutions, ensuring seamless user lifecycle management and secure application integration.
- Architect and deploy Azure services with a focus on Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) clusters, and automated resource provisioning using ARM templates.
- Implement advanced monitoring and governance using Azure Monitor and Azure Policy to ensure compliance and operational health.
- Manage Google Cloud Platform (GCP) components, utilizing GAM for workspace management, Cloud Operations Suite for observability, and Deployment Manager for infrastructure automation.
- Develop and maintain Site Reliability Engineering practices, focusing on Service Level Objectives (SLOs), error budgets, and automated incident response.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate identity solutions into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring that security is baked into the development lifecycle.
Strategic Impact and Future-Proofing
In this role, you will not just be maintaining systems; you will be building the foundation for a resilient and secure digital enterprise. Your work with Zero Trust principles will directly impact the organization’s ability to defend against sophisticated identity-based threats. By leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) through ARM templates and GCP Deployment Manager, you will ensure that our environments are reproducible, scalable, and consistent. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 6 years of dedicated experience in SRE or Cloud Security roles, with a proven track record of managing complex identity ecosystems in multi-cloud environments (Azure and GCP).
Required Technical Proficiency
Candidates must demonstrate deep hands-on experience with Okta, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Proficiency in scripting and automation is essential, as is a thorough understanding of modern authentication protocols. You should be comfortable navigating the complexities of AKS clusters and managing identity at scale within a Kubernetes environment. Strong communication skills are required to translate complex security and reliability requirements into actionable engineering plans.
