Job Summary:
Scalable Systems Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Snowflake Administrator with over 10 years of hands-on experience to manage both sub-production and production environments. This role requires a deep understanding of Snowflake’s architecture, security, performance optimization, and automation capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scripting, cloud services, and integrating Snowflake with various tools and platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer Snowflake environments (Sub-Prod & Prod), including object management (Database, Schema, Tables, Views, Data Share, External Stage, Storage Integration).
- Manage and optimize Snowflake features such as Streams, Tasks, Clone, and Time Travel.
- Configure and manage Multi-Cluster Warehouses, including scaling up/out for optimal workload performance.
- Implement and maintain Snowflake security best practices, including Roles, Privileges, Users, and RBAC.
- Perform performance tuning and optimization using techniques like Materialized Views, Clustering, Micro-Partitioning, and Caching.
- Lead platform setup from scratch, including PrivateLink, VPC, Networking, and Firewall configurations.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Unix.
- Utilize SnowSQL scripting and automation from AWS EC2 instances.
- Manage and integrate with AWS services such as S3, EC2, and EKS.
- Configure and manage Snowflake SSO integration with Okta and AD Groups.
- Implement and manage Network Policies, Row Access Policies, Masking Policies, Encryption, and Secured Views.
- Facilitate integration of Snowflake with BI tools like Tableau, SAS, and programming languages like Python via JDBC connections.
- Oversee Data Sharing, Account Replication, and Disaster Recovery strategies within Snowflake.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake and adhere to DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies like Cortex LLM and Streamlit.
- Apply strong knowledge of SQL, ELT processes, and data pipeline optimization.
- Collaborate effectively with Data Engineers, Data Architects, Data Scientists, and Security teams.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in Snowflake Administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake objects, features, and administration.
- Proficiency in Python and Unix scripting for automation.
- Experience with AWS services (S3, EC2, EKS).
- Knowledge of Snowflake security features and best practices.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
