About the Role:
We are seeking a Snowflake Database Architect/Engineer to join our team. You will serve an integral part in assisting with the migration, maintenance, update, and support of various database platforms. Activities will also include cross-functional collaboration with software development, security, and data warehouse teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a Snowflake data warehouse and data replication from various sources.
- Set up and maintain security and access for production environments.
- Perform development responsibilities including data modeling and analysis, schema design, and database object creations (tables, stored-procedures, triggers, functions, and jobs, etc.).
- Identify, assess, and evaluate technologies, products, and tools for building enterprise architecture services.
- Analyze archiving approaches, propose solutions, and assist in the implementation of the chosen approach.
- Review and revise existing tables and indexing strategies to improve storage efficiency and access.
- Provide performance tuning assistance on all data pull/queries and work with end-users.
- Pro-actively identify issues and coordinate resolutions.
- Assist programmers during development by responding to questions and providing guidance when necessary.
- Provide user direction/support on all data queries.
- Analyze problems and propose, present, and propagate solutions or practices to meet architectural challenges.
- Participate in unit, system, user, and performance testing.
- Familiarity with version control tools.
- Perform installation, maintenance, and on-call support.
Qualifications and Education:
- Knowledge and ideally working experience with data lake, data modeling on Snowflake, AWS S3, and Glue.
- Working experience in setting up security and access controls in Snowflake.
- 5+ years of hands-on database work with SQL Server.
- Hands-on experience with AWS RDS, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, and Redis databases.
- An understanding of proper indexing and experience with query tuning.
- Knowledge of DB2.
- Knowledge of UDB/AIX utilities such as backup, reorg, runstats and rebind is required.
- Knowledge of Oracle and MS SQL Server reorg, update stats.
- Experience with AWS DMS.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology.
- Ability to analyze existing configurations and recommend hardware/software improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to meet business needs with sound technical approaches.
- Self-motivated, task-oriented, and capable of working independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of the Property and Casualty Insurance industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of replication is desired.
- Prior experience migrating databases from on-premise.
Additional Information:
- Location: Boston, MA or Woodbridge, NJ (4 days/week onsite)
- Pay Rate: $70/hr C2C
- F2F interview required.
- Eligible for GC/USC/H1B/EAD.
