Position Overview: Senior Software Engineer (J2EE)
We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in J2EE and modern data engineering tools to join our team in Plano, Texas. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity, designed for a professional who thrives in a high-performance environment and is looking to transition into a long-term role within a leading financial services organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise-level applications that support critical financial operations. This role requires a unique blend of traditional Java expertise and modern cloud-based data processing skills.
Technical Requirements and Core Competencies
- Java J2EE Expertise: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Java J2EE development is required. You should be proficient in building scalable, secure, and high-performance server-side applications.
- Python Integration: Strong proficiency in Python is essential, particularly for scripting, automation, and data manipulation tasks that complement the core Java applications.
- Cloud Data Engineering: Hands-on experience with AWS Glue is a must. You will be responsible for designing and managing ETL processes to move and transform data across various cloud environments.
- Financial Domain Knowledge: Candidates must have a solid background in the financial sector. Understanding financial data structures, regulatory requirements, and the high-availability needs of banking systems is crucial for success in this role.
- Web Servers: Familiarity with Apache web servers and related configurations is considered a significant advantage.
Responsibilities and Work Environment
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our digital transformation efforts. Your daily tasks will involve writing clean, maintainable code, conducting thorough code reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define system requirements. In the Plano office, you will work onsite alongside other engineers, architects, and product owners to ensure that our software solutions align with business goals.
