Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solutions Architect to join our team. This role is crucial for developing and implementing robust architectural solutions that align with business objectives and technical strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT architecture, requirements analysis, development, testing, and application support, with a significant focus on enterprise BSS systems and Solutions architecture within the MSO/Telecommunications sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the solution vision and document the solution architecture, encompassing capability-to-systems mapping, integration strategy, and technology choices that define the overall solution approach and design. This will be achieved through close collaboration with business owners, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and IT Delivery teams.
  • Actively participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, from intake to implementation, to ensure the solution is complete, consistent with the architecture blueprint, and to eliminate the need for potential re-work.
  • Participate in activities such as feature definition, user story grooming, estimation, solution definition, and architecture gap/issue resolution.
  • Facilitate and lead requirements analysis and solution design working sessions, conducting analysis to determine solution and integration needs.
  • Engage with business counterparts, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand business pain points and translate them into system requirements, ensuring that business asks are aligned with the overall architecture vision.
  • Ensure that the solution is well-thought-out, engineered, operable, maintainable, and aligns with the enterprise vision, while also being feasible to deliver on schedule and provide the anticipated business value.
  • Collaborate with the IT Delivery team (platform/component architects, technical leads), Release Management, and Project Managers (PMs) to ensure all dependencies are resolved and that features delivered in one project do not negatively impact other projects.
  • Drive systems integration, including defining the interface/technical design specifications and documenting the end-to-end data flow using established methodologies, templates, and tools.
  • Actively involve in aspects of implementation, including research, proof of concept/prototype development, compatibility tests, and assessment for new technology introductions.
  • Identify necessary non-functional requirements (performance, security, operational) and participate in the development of conceptual architecture.

Technical and Functional Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a similar technical area.
  • At least 12+ years of experience in IT, covering at least three of the following areas: architecture, requirements & design, development, testing, application support.
  • 4+ years of MSO/Telecommunications experience with a good blend of functional and technical skills in enterprise BSS systems and Solutions architecture.
  • 4+ years of experience architecting and designing large-scale Enterprise solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing or integrating complex systems and platforms, including COTS, SaaS, and third-party solutions using industry-standard frameworks and technologies.
  • 2+ years of experience in an Architecture group working on a broad spectrum of end-to-end strategic solutions and roadmaps.
  • Hands-on system development and integration design experience/background (Angular, Spring, Spring Boot, J2EE, API Gateway, MySQL, Distributed systems architecture).
  • Experience and knowledge of BSS, OSS, IT, and industry standards such as TMF, MEF, ITIL, IETF, IEEE is highly desired.
  • Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively at both leadership and developer levels, with proven ability to lead large, matrix-managed technical teams that may include multiple vendors.
  • Experienced in driving and realizing complex/full-stack end-to-end solutions and understanding how architecture/design decisions impact delivery.

Additional Information

  • This is an onsite position located in Reston, VA.
  • The pay rate is $60-65 per hour.
