Role Overview

The Solutions Architect position in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, represents a critical leadership role within a high-growth telecommunications environment. This 6-month contract opportunity is designed for a seasoned professional who can navigate the complexities of modern enterprise architecture while maintaining a hands-on connection to the underlying technology stack. As the primary architect for key initiatives, you will be tasked with developing a comprehensive solution vision that bridges the gap between high-level business objectives and granular technical implementation. This involves producing detailed solution architecture documentation that encompasses capability mapping, systems integration strategies, and the selection of appropriate technology frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end architectural design process, ensuring that all solutions are well-architected, maintainable, and fully aligned with the long-term enterprise strategy.
  • Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating complex business pain points into actionable system requirements and technical specifications.
  • Drive the definition of non-functional requirements, focusing on system performance, security protocols, and operational scalability to ensure robust delivery.
  • Facilitate solution design workshops and requirements analysis sessions to validate integration points across a variety of internal and external systems.
  • Collaborate with platform architects, technical leads, and project managers to identify and resolve cross-project dependencies, ensuring smooth delivery cycles.
  • Oversee the creation of end-to-end dataflow documentation and interface definitions to support seamless systems integration.
  • Participate in hands-on implementation tasks, including the development of Proof of Concepts (POCs), prototypes, and the assessment of emerging technologies.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables adhere to established architectural standards and provide measurable business value upon implementation.

Technical Requirements and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems is required to provide the necessary theoretical foundation.
  • Over 12 years of professional experience in the IT sector, with significant exposure to architecture, design, development, and application support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with the Java/Spring ecosystem, specifically Spring Boot, J2EE, and API Gateway technologies.
  • Proficiency in front-end development using Angular and database management with MySQL in a distributed systems context.
  • At least 4 years of specialized experience within the MSO (Multiple System Operator) or telecommunications industry, with a focus on BSS (Business Support Systems).
  • Proven track record of designing and architecting large-scale enterprise solutions that integrate COTS, SaaS, and custom-built 3rd-party platforms.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as TMF, MEF, ITIL, IETF, and IEEE is highly preferred to ensure compliance with global telecom benchmarks.

Professional Attributes

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex architectural concepts to both technical engineering teams and non-technical executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in managing large, matrixed, cross-functional teams, including the oversight of multiple external vendors.
  • A strategic mindset that understands how individual architectural decisions impact the overall delivery timeline and project feasibility.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to navigate the challenges of a fast-paced, evolving technical landscape in Philadelphia.

This role is ideal for a Solutions Architect who thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses the technical depth to influence the direction of enterprise-level telecommunications platforms. By joining this project, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of BSS/OSS solutions, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and capable of meeting the demands of a modern digital economy.

Special Requirements

Domain restriction: 4+ years MSO/telecommunications experience with strong functional + technical knowledge of enterprise BSS systems and solutions architecture.
