Position Summary
We are looking for a seasoned SQL DBA Lead to maintain the operational stability and security of the AHMS SQL Server database environment in Marysville, OH. This is a local-only, onsite contract role that requires a technical leader capable of managing complex database projects while ensuring cost-effective operations. The lead will act as a primary liaison between the database team and application stakeholders, ensuring that all project deliverables are completed within schedule and budget. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of high-volume financial and operational data.
Daily Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for database development projects, ensuring deliverables are met within schedule and budget.
- Collaborate with Data Architecture teams to design, build, and implement SQL Server databases based on project requirements.
- Install and configure SQL Server instances, optimizing settings for organizational needs and performance.
- Perform fine-tuning of database systems to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability across the enterprise.
- Monitor database health using built-in and third-party tools, resolving bottlenecks through query optimization and index tuning.
- Manage DBA resources and align availability with project demand and supply to ensure consistent support.
- Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies, including high availability solutions like Always On Availability Groups.
- Conduct periodic access reviews and enforce database security policies to ensure strict SOX compliance.
- Track job process failures and conduct appropriate PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) analysis to prevent recurrence.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive experience as a SQL Server DBA with a focus on lead or senior-level responsibilities in a large-scale environment.
- Deep knowledge of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and security management.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery (DR) planning, implementation, and testing.
- Familiarity with SOX documentation, security access procedures, and PII (Personally Identifiable Information) initiatives.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate collaboration between application and database teams.
- Ability to conduct 4Block analysis and present findings to management for strategic decision-making.
Work Environment
This role is based onsite in Marysville, OH. Candidates must be local to the area or willing to relocate for the duration of the contract. The environment is fast-paced and requires a proactive approach to database administration and project management. You will be working with a team of dedicated professionals focused on maintaining the highest levels of system uptime and data security.
Special Requirements
Local Only & Onsite requirement. Experience with SOX compliance and PII initiatives required.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $130,000 – $170,000 per year (Estimated)
