Role Overview

The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) is actively seeking a highly qualified Senior Appian Certified Developer with a Level 2 Certification to join their technical team for a critical long-term project. This position is 100% remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States while contributing to high-impact public sector applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of business applications using the Appian low-code platform. We are looking for a technical leader who can navigate complex process modeling and SAIL interface development while maintaining a proactive, problem-solving mindset in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build robust Appian applications utilizing SAIL (Self-Assembling Interface Layer) and complex Process Models to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Develop and manage seamless integrations with various external systems and databases through REST and SOAP APIs, ensuring data integrity and system interoperability.
  • Optimize user interface performance and responsiveness to provide an exceptional user experience across different devices and platforms.
  • Write and execute comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure the stability, security, and reliability of all software products.
  • Collaborate effectively with business analysts, quality assurance teams, and project stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Participate in all Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to maintain project momentum and transparency.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, promoting best practices in Appian development and low-code architecture.
  • Document technical designs and system architectures to support long-term maintenance and scalability of the applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software development with a strong focus on Agile methodologies.
  • At least 3 years of dedicated, hands-on experience developing on the Appian platform.
  • Mandatory Appian Level 2 Senior Developer Certification is required for this role.
  • Proven expertise in designing complex SAIL interfaces and sophisticated process models.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex business logic into efficient technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, which are essential for success in a remote-first collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may be substituted.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with GAMS (Government Acquisition Management Suite) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with public sector IT projects and the specific compliance and security standards associated with government agencies.
  • Advanced knowledge of database design, SQL optimization, and data modeling within the Appian environment.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
