Job Overview:
We are urgently hiring for a Sr. Backend Engineer position, requiring candidates to be local to Washington state. This is a long-term contract role focused on scalable API and service development, data storage, performance optimization, and integration with LLM services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in server-side languages, data management, and modern engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain scalable APIs and backend services.
- Design and implement efficient data storage solutions, including relational databases and caching mechanisms.
- Optimize service performance for low latency and high throughput.
- Integrate backend services with Large Language Model (LLM) services.
- Build secure, low-latency endpoints for prompt services.
- Manage request batching and rate limiting for APIs.
- Implement robust authentication and access control (ACL) mechanisms.
- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
- Develop API documentation and deployment manifests.
- Conduct performance benchmarking and analysis.
- Adhere to engineering best practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and observability.
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong experience in one or more server languages (Java/Net).
- Proficiency in REST and GraphQL.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres) and caching systems (e.g., Redis).
- Experience with message queues.
- Experience with Big Data technologies.
- Familiarity with AWS services.
- Experience with GraphQL.
Engineering Practices:
- TDD/unit integration tests.
- API documentation.
- Observability.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 per year (Estimated)
