Position Summary
GAC Solutions Inc is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a high-impact, onsite role in Reading, PA. This position is designed for a seasoned professional with at least 15 years of experience in the data engineering domain. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of scalable data platforms that serve as the backbone for analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, big data processing, and data modeling, combined with the leadership skills necessary to drive complex projects from conception to production.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Architect and build robust, scalable data pipelines using both batch and streaming methodologies.
- Design and optimize sophisticated data models for analytical and operational use cases across relational and non-relational databases.
- Develop high-performance data processing solutions using Python and big data frameworks such as PySpark, Kafka, and Hadoop.
- Implement and manage end-to-end ETL/ELT workflows to support enterprise data warehouses and data lakes.
- Deploy and manage data solutions on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) using cloud-native services.
- Ensure the reliability, quality, security, and performance of the entire data ecosystem.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices tailored for data engineering workloads.
- Orchestrate and monitor complex data workflows using tools like Apache Airflow.
- Perform deep performance tuning and cost optimization for large-scale distributed data systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and application developers, to deliver data-driven solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Advanced expertise in SQL and data modeling for diverse database environments.
- Strong programming proficiency in Python; experience with Scala or Java is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with big data and streaming technologies like PySpark, Hadoop, and Kafka.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their respective data services.
- Extensive experience with modern data warehousing, data lakes, and ETL/ELT tools.
- Proven track record of implementing CI/CD and DevOps practices in a data-centric environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead complex, large-scale data initiatives.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools, specifically Apache Airflow.
