The Senior Developer (Automation & AI) is a critical role designed for a forward-thinking engineer who thrives at the intersection of traditional software development and the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence. Located onsite in Fort Mill, South Carolina, this position offers the opportunity to lead the charge in implementing AI-driven workflows and sophisticated automation frameworks. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting systems that not only automate repetitive tasks but also leverage machine learning and generative AI to optimize the entire software development lifecycle. This role requires a deep understanding of system design, as you will be building the foundational structures that allow for dynamic, runtime code generation and intelligent tool integration.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Leadership

  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced automation frameworks that utilize dynamic, runtime code generation to significantly reduce manual coding efforts and improve system adaptability.
  • Lead the integration of AI-driven development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and other LLM-based utilities into the standard engineering workflow to enhance developer productivity and code quality.
  • Architect and implement robust back-end services and APIs using .NET and Python, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security within an AWS cloud environment.
  • Troubleshoot complex architectural and performance issues, providing expert-level debugging and root cause analysis in high-pressure environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI implementation, conducting rapid prototyping and feasibility studies for new automation features.
  • Maintain a strong focus on system design, ensuring that all automation and AI components are modular, maintainable, and aligned with long-term technical goals.
  • Mentor junior developers on best practices for AI-assisted coding and modern automation techniques.

Required Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience. Expert-level proficiency in .NET (C#) and Python is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used for our automation and AI initiatives. You must have a proven track record of working with AWS services, particularly those related to compute, storage, and machine learning. A deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and distributed system design is essential for creating efficient automation frameworks. Hands-on experience with modern AI development tools is a significant advantage, as is the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies in a fast-moving environment. Excellent communication skills are required to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This onsite role in Fort Mill requires a professional who values face-to-face collaboration and the ability to work closely with the core engineering team to drive innovation.
