Position Summary
Our Data Platform Engineering team is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Boston-based office. This is a high-impact contract role focused on supporting the CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure for our integrated Data Fabric platform. The Data Fabric is a strategic core asset that underpins the operational success of our entire firm, making this role vital to our technological infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient procedures that streamline software development and infrastructure deployment, ensuring our data systems are robust, scalable, and highly available. This position requires a physical presence in our Boston, MA office at least four days a week.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect and implement robust continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines specifically tailored for data infrastructure.
- Utilize Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources across multiple environments.
- Develop and maintain GitHub Actions workflows to automate testing, deployment, and operational tasks, reducing manual intervention.
- Collaborate closely with cloud engineers, data engineers, and system administrators to optimize data processing capabilities for large-scale volumes.
- Manage and deploy key data systems and services, ensuring they meet the firm’s performance, security, and compliance standards.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and provide innovative solutions to technical challenges in a high-pressure environment.
- Implement monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure the health and performance of the Data Fabric platform.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive experience with DevOps technologies and methodologies in a cloud-native environment, preferably with AWS or Azure.
- Expert-level proficiency with Terraform for managing complex, multi-tier infrastructure as code.
- Deep understanding of GitHub Actions for workflow automation and building sophisticated CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working with large-scale data platforms and understanding the unique challenges of data infrastructure, such as data persistence and high throughput.
- Strong background in automation, scripting (Python, Bash), and Linux systems administration.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work as part of a cross-functional team including architects and data administrators to find opportunities for leveraging DevOps tools to process large volumes of data.
- Communicate technical strategies and project updates effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Participate in architectural reviews and provide feedback on infrastructure design to ensure scalability and maintainability.
Work Environment and Location
This position requires a physical presence in our Boston, MA office at least four days a week. We believe that face-to-face collaboration is essential for the complex problem-solving required in our Data Platform Engineering team. Candidates must be comfortable with this hybrid/onsite arrangement and be prepared to engage deeply with the local team. Compensation & Location
Salary: $168,000 – $235,000 per year (Estimated)
