Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for a fully remote position. This is a high-impact role focused on building and managing scalable cloud infrastructure within a modern AWS environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about infrastructure as code, automation, and cloud architecture. This role is heavily infrastructure-focused and not centered on data engineering or ETL work.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
- Support and scale AWS services across a distributed environment.
- Manage and maintain data lake infrastructure (primarily S3) to ensure accessibility.
- Implement infrastructure as code best practices (no manual console usage).
- Contribute to and enhance CI/CD pipelines.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
- Enable access to data for internal users.
Candidate Profile
- Senior-level engineer preferred (been around the block).
- Strong problem solver, high-level thinker.
- Able to pick up tools like GitLab quickly.
- Infrastructure-focused mindset vs. data engineering.
- Candidates heavily focused on EMR or data engineering are not a fit.
- Does not want data people focused on pipelines or ETL.
- Profiles centered on moving data rather than infrastructure are not a fit.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform (multiple years preferred).
- Deep knowledge of AWS, including EKS (Kubernetes), Lambda, S3, IAM, and Networking (critical).
- Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab or similar).
- Proven ability to operate at a senior level and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes environments.
- Exposure to bare metal infrastructure.
Additional Information
This is a fully remote position. Prior Telecom experience is a bonus. The client wants to move fast and is being very competitive. While fully remote is fine, being near a hub is a nice-to-have if someone wants to convert later, but nothing immediate there. They want sharp, senior folks who can ramp quickly and make an impact right away.
