Position Summary: Senior Full Stack Java Developer

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Full Stack Application Developer to join our core Application Development Team. This is a long-term contract opportunity requiring a professional with a minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in the Java ecosystem. The role is based in Michigan, with a hybrid work schedule requiring presence in our Okemos or Farmington offices. This position is ideal for a problem-solver who possesses excellent analytical reasoning and a forward-thinking, solution-oriented mindset. You will be expected to communicate thoughts and ideas clearly while contributing to the development of high-quality, scalable software solutions.

Technical Stack and Engineering Excellence

  • Backend Development: Mastery of Core Java/J2EE is essential. You will be working extensively with the Spring Framework and Jersey to build and maintain high-performance RESTful services. A deep understanding of the JVM, including profiling and performance tuning, is required to ensure application scalability and efficiency. You will also be responsible for writing complex SQL and PL/SQL scripts for Oracle Databases.
  • Frontend Innovation: On the client side, you will utilize Angular, TypeScript, and Node.js to create responsive and intuitive user interfaces. Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3 is expected to deliver seamless user experiences across various platforms. You will ensure that the frontend is tightly integrated with backend services for optimal performance.
  • DevOps and Infrastructure: While primarily a development role, you will be involved in the full software development lifecycle. This includes working with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and Docker for containerization. Experience with Weblogic Server and the Elastic Stack (ELK) is highly valued. You will also utilize caching mechanisms like Redis or Memcache to enhance application speed.
  • Security and Standards: You will implement secure authentication and authorization protocols, including SAML. Familiarity with Unix/Linux scripting is preferred for maintaining and automating development environments.

Strategic Problem Solving and Leadership

With over 15 years of experience, you are expected to be more than just a coder; you are a technical strategist. You will analyze complex business requirements and translate them into robust technical designs. Your role involves identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing proactive solutions to prevent system failures. You will also mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the team. Your ability to think critically and provide innovative solutions will be key to the success of our long-term projects.

Work Environment and Interview Process

  • Hybrid Model: Currently, the role requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office (Okemos or Farmington, MI). Please note that starting in the summer of 2026, this requirement will increase to 4 days per week. Candidates must be local to the Michigan area or willing to relocate immediately.
  • Interview Requirements: A Face-to-Face (F2F) interview is a mandatory part of the selection process. We value the interpersonal communication and technical deep-dives that occur during in-person evaluations.
  • Contract Duration: This is a long-term engagement with the potential for multiple extensions based on performance and project needs.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $190,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Farmington Hills, MI
