Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT DevSecOps Engineer to support a critical mission at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, DC. This onsite position requires a security-first mindset and deep technical expertise in automating, securing, and scaling cloud-native applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating security practices into every stage of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring that our client’s infrastructure remains robust, compliant, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, focusing on automation and security integration.
  • Configure and manage GitLab runners and components to optimize build and deployment processes.
  • Architect and maintain secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, utilizing services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, ECS, and EKS.
  • Lead containerization efforts using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring orchestration, deployment strategies, and security protocols are followed.
  • Implement and manage GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux for automated deployment principles.
  • Conduct rigorous security testing using SAST, DAST, IAST, and SCA tools to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize container scanning tools like Trivy, Prisma/Twistlock, or Neuvector to maintain a secure golden image strategy.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible to ensure environment consistency.
  • Automate security checks and remediations to reduce manual intervention and improve response times.
  • Collaborate in a paired programming environment to solve complex technical challenges and share knowledge across the team.
  • Manage Linux-based systems and shells, ensuring high availability and performance of the underlying infrastructure.

Technical Requirements

  • Extensive experience with Version Control Systems, specifically GIT and GitLab.
  • Proven proficiency in AWS cloud platforms and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash for automation and system management.
  • Deep understanding of container hardening and security best practices.
  • Experience incorporating linting, unit testing, and performance testing into automated deployment processes.
  • Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC and adhere to federal security standards.

Professional Expectations

As a Senior Engineer, you are expected to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the DevSecOps domain. You will act as a subject matter expert, guiding the team through complex migrations and security audits. Your ability to communicate technical concepts to stakeholders and work effectively in a high-stakes federal environment is paramount to success in this role.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Washington, DC
