Job ID: 1901
Role Overview: Site Reliability Engineer (GCP)
As we move into 2026, the role of a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) has become the backbone of resilient digital enterprises. This contract position in Alpharetta, GA, offers a unique opportunity to lead the reliability and scalability efforts for a high-traffic cloud environment. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between development and operations, ensuring that our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure is not only robust but also highly automated and self-healing.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Depth
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): You will leverage Terraform to manage and provision complex cloud resources. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining state files, modularizing code, and ensuring that infrastructure deployments are repeatable and consistent across non-production and production environments.
- Kubernetes Orchestration: Managing GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) clusters is a core part of this role. You will configure namespaces, ingress controllers (Nginx), and resource quotas to optimize performance and cost.
- CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Utilizing Jenkins and modern CI/CD practices, you will automate the software delivery lifecycle. This includes integrating security scanning, automated testing, and blue-green deployment strategies to minimize downtime.
- Data Management and Migration: You will collaborate with specialized database teams to manage data migrations involving Cassandra, Elasticsearch (ELS), and Oracle. Understanding SQL and NoSQL performance tuning is essential for maintaining system health during high-load periods.
- Observability and Monitoring: Implementing comprehensive monitoring solutions using Datadog, AppDynamics, and Application Insights is mandatory. You will define Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks before they impact the end-user experience.
Strategic Impact and Collaboration
Beyond technical execution, the SRE is a strategic partner to the business. You will participate in architectural planning sessions to understand build and deployment requirements for new features. By working closely with infrastructure and security teams, you will ensure that storage, logging, firewalls, and network ports are configured according to the principle of least privilege. Your ability to automate manual tasks through Python or Go scripting will be a key metric of success, driving operational efficiency across the organization.
Future-Proofing the Infrastructure
In this role, you are not just maintaining systems; you are evolving them. You will analyze existing deployment processes and identify opportunities for enhancement, particularly as applications transition to more microservices-oriented architectures. Your GCP certification will serve as the foundation for implementing the latest cloud-native services, ensuring our stack remains at the cutting edge of the industry in 2026.
Special Requirements
GCP certification required. Onsite presence in Alpharetta, GA is mandatory.
