Job Summary:
We are seeking a System Test Engineer for an automotive manufacturer in the Troy, MI area. This is an onsite contract position. The System Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the elicitation of requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), verifying the test coverage of System and System Architecture Requirements, and maintaining the quality of test cases and Test Plans. The role involves specifying test cases according to test strategies, ensuring correct test environment setup, executing tests, and reporting test results for consistency with test specifications, the device under test, and the relevant System release. The System Test Engineer will report to the Test Lead or System Validation Technical Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures executability of tests in alignment with the project plan.
- Develops Test Specifications, ensuring traceability from system test cases to unique system requirements to guarantee full test coverage of all system interfaces and stakeholder requirements.
- Supports the distribution of the System Test Environment.
- Executes tests and ensures consistency of test results.
- Reports test outcomes to the Test Lead or System Validation Technical Project Manager.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in system test/design within a multifunctional environment.
- Good knowledge of embedded software and systems.
- Proficiency in system engineering and testing, including requirements analysis, test case writing methodology, traceability concepts, test case execution, automation, and reporting.
- Knowledge of process models, such as Automotive SPICE.
- Experience with automation scripting.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to understand new challenges and technologies.
- Confident, articulate, self-motivated, determined, and energetic. Ability to engage with customers and build strong relationships.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Team player mentality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge in automotive development and application of active safety features is a plus.
- Bench and vehicle test experience.
- Experience in AI usage is an advantage.
- Knowledge of CAN communication protocols (CANoe, CANalyzer).
- Capl script knowledge.
- Knowledge of DAS/ADAS.
- DFMEA knowledge.
- Familiarity with ultrasonic/camera-based systems (object sensing technology) will be considered a plus.
- ASPICE, ISO26262, and Cyber Security training are an advantage.
Special Requirements

Compensation & Location
Salary: $43 – $43 per year
