Role Overview
The Systems Analyst for Oracle eBusiness Systems is a high-impact role designed for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the Oracle R12.2.10 environment. Located onsite in Houston, TX, this contract position requires a candidate who can seamlessly bridge the gap between complex business requirements and technical system configurations. The primary focus of this role is to provide comprehensive application support, functional guidance, and technical troubleshooting for Oracle’s Finance and Projects suites. As a senior member of the support team, you will work under minimal supervision, ensuring that the system remains robust, compliant, and aligned with the evolving needs of the business. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a deep understanding of the data flow between subledgers and the General Ledger, acting as a techno-functional bridge for the organization.
Key Responsibilities and Daily Priorities
- Provide end-to-end functional and technical support for Oracle eBusiness Suite (EBS) modules, specifically focusing on Finance (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, iExpense, and iSupplier) and Oracle Projects (Costing, Billing, and Accounting).
- Act as a primary point of contact for business users, responding to incident reports, troubleshooting root causes, and identifying whether issues stem from standard functionality or custom extensions.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, including SQL and PL/SQL scripts, to analyze data integrity, extract ad-hoc reports, and perform data corrections to resolve system defects.
- Lead and participate in Change Management activities, ensuring all modifications follow SOX control requirements and industry-standard project management methodologies.
- Conduct Conference Room Pilots (CRP) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate defect fixes and new feature implementations, ensuring they meet strict acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with Oracle Support on complex cases, managing the diagnosis and verification of patches before promotion to production environments.
- Document all system issues, workarounds, and recovery steps within incident management tools like Helix to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base.
Technical and Domain Requirements
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in the IT industry, with at least 5-7 years specifically dedicated to supporting Oracle eBusiness Modules in a techno-functional capacity.
- Deep expertise in the Oracle EBS R12.2.10 on-premise architecture and data models, particularly the flow of data between subledgers and the General Ledger.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL is mandatory, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in writing complex queries and data correction scripts.
- Experience with Oracle Apex (3+ years preferred) and the ability to understand programming logic in Workflow, BI Publisher, and Apex.
- Strong understanding of Finance and Project accounting principles, including costing, billing, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as SCRUM and Kanban within a multi-developer team environment.
Qualifications and Soft Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university is highly preferred; alternatively, 5 years of direct industry experience in a related field is required.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and system behaviors to non-technical end-users.
- A keen, investigative approach to problem-solving, using data-driven evidence to identify and mitigate system impediments.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as required by project needs.
- Must be a local candidate to the Houston, TX area, as this role requires consistent onsite presence.
Additional Information
This position is ideal for a candidate who has transitioned from a Business Analyst or Quality Assurance role into a Techno-Functional Consultant. Candidates whose experience is limited to technical-only support or database administration (DBA) tasks such as patching and server maintenance will not be considered. The role demands a holistic understanding of end-to-end system processes and the ability to take ownership of operational challenges in a fast-paced corporate environment. Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
