Role Overview
The Technical Business Analyst (Banking) position in Berkeley, NJ, is a critical role designed to bridge the gap between complex financial business requirements and technical execution. In the evolving 2026 financial landscape, where digital transformation and real-time data processing are paramount, this role serves as the primary architect of functional specifications and data-driven insights. You will be working within a high-velocity environment, ensuring that banking workflows are optimized for efficiency, security, and compliance. This position requires a unique blend of technical prowess and deep domain knowledge to navigate the intricacies of modern FinTech ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct deep-dive data analysis using advanced SQL to validate data integrity and troubleshoot complex integration issues across multiple banking platforms.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, while managing backlogs in JIRA and Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Translate high-level banking requirements into detailed technical documentation, including data mapping and API specifications using JSON and XML formats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to define integration requirements for payment systems and financial service workflows.
- Perform root-cause analysis on production issues and provide actionable recommendations for system enhancements to improve user experience.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation in Confluence to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity across the project lifecycle.
Technical Requirements & Domain Expertise

- Strong understanding of API behavior and the ability to work with developers on RESTful and SOAP services.
- Proficiency in Agile project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and ADO to manage sprint boards and backlogs.
- Ability to interpret complex data models and contribute to the design of scalable data architectures for financial reporting.
The Future of Banking Technology
In 2026, the banking sector is undergoing a radical shift toward decentralized finance integration and hyper-personalized customer experiences. As a Technical Business Analyst, you will be at the forefront of this evolution. Your role involves not just maintaining current systems but anticipating the needs of a digital-first banking population. This includes understanding how real-time payment rails like FedNow or RTP impact traditional ledger systems and ensuring that data flows seamlessly across these new infrastructures. Your expertise in SQL will be leveraged to create predictive models that help the bank identify potential fraud patterns or credit risks before they manifest, making your contribution vital to the institution’s bottom line.
Detailed Agile Workflow
Working within an Agile framework in a large-scale banking environment requires a high degree of coordination. You will be responsible for grooming the product backlog, ensuring that user stories are “Ready” for development by including clear acceptance criteria and technical constraints. During the sprint, you will act as a liaison between the developers and the business stakeholders, clarifying requirements in real-time to prevent bottlenecks. Your proficiency with tools like JIRA and ADO will allow you to track velocity and provide transparent reporting to management. By facilitating effective retrospectives, you will help the team identify process improvements, ensuring that each release is more efficient than the last.
