Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Technical Project Manager to join our engineering leadership team in San Diego, California. This is a hybrid role designed for a professional who possesses a deep technical foundation, specifically within Java development and large-scale systems architecture. Unlike traditional project management roles that focus solely on administrative tasks or Scrum ceremonies, this position requires a leader who can dive into the technical details, understand complex engineering challenges, and guide cross-functional teams toward successful delivery. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of high-impact technology initiatives within a service-oriented organizational structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of complex technical projects, ensuring they meet high-quality standards and business objectives.
- Oversee large, cross-functional engineering teams, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Drive comprehensive project planning, including scope definition, resource allocation, and timeline management.
- Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks and dependencies across multiple workstreams.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers and architects to ensure technical feasibility and robust implementation of Java-based solutions.
- Maintain transparent and effective communication with executive leadership and client stakeholders regarding project status and milestones.
- Ensure all project documentation, including technical specifications and progress reports, is maintained to the highest standards.
- Manage budget constraints and ensure optimal resource utilization throughout the project lifecycle.
Technical Requirements & Qualifications
- A strong engineering background with significant experience in Java development and enterprise-level software architecture.
- Proven track record as a Technical Project Manager, specifically within service-oriented or consulting organizations.
- Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and modern Agile/DevOps methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire large, diverse engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a hybrid work model, balancing in-office collaboration with remote productivity.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $205,000 per year (Estimated)
