Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Utility Operations Test Lead to oversee and manage end-to-end testing activities for critical applications within the utility sector. This role is crucial for ensuring the delivery of high-quality software, maintaining compliance with stringent industry standards, and facilitating the smooth execution of all test cycles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Utility Operations domain knowledge, coupled with extensive experience in test planning, execution, defect management, and effective stakeholder coordination. A background in test automation, particularly with tools like Tosca, is highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test Strategy & Execution: Develop, implement, and refine comprehensive test strategies, detailed test plans, and specific test cases tailored for utility operations applications. Ensure thorough functional, integration, regression, performance, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) are conducted. Validate APIs, services, and map layers through both manual and automated test cases. Conduct cross-browser and cross-platform testing to guarantee consistent application performance and user experience. Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to ensure testing activities are perfectly aligned with project requirements and business objectives.
- Defect Management & Quality Assurance: Proactively identify, meticulously document, and diligently track defects using industry-standard tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, or similar platforms. Perform in-depth root cause analysis and defect triaging to ensure timely and effective resolution. Uphold and enforce QA best practices, testing standards, and relevant utility industry regulations. Provide regular, clear, and concise test progress reports and key metrics to all relevant stakeholders.
- Test Automation & Tosca Exposure: Contribute actively to test automation initiatives, with a particular focus on API testing and workflow validation. Leverage exposure to Tosca or other automation tools to enhance test efficiency and coverage. Support automation efforts for repetitive validation tasks, while recognizing that manual testing remains a primary focus for certain critical areas.
- Stakeholder & Team Management: Lead and mentor a dedicated testing team, fostering effective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development. Coordinate seamlessly with internal teams, third-party vendors, and offshore units to ensure the smooth execution of test cycles. Engage actively in client discussions, requirement analysis sessions, and testing sign-offs to ensure business expectations are consistently met and exceeded.
- Generic Managerial Skills: Demonstrate strong team leadership, test coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills. Possess excellent communication and reporting capabilities, effectively conveying test progress, risks, and mitigation strategies. Experience in test planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for large-scale utility operations projects is essential. Ability to manage testing SLAs, KPIs, and defect resolution timelines is critical.
