Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMware Migration Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in VMware vSphere environments and a strong background in migrating workloads to AWS EC2 and modernizing them to EKS. This role requires hands-on expertise in cloud migration strategies, including VMware Cloud on AWS and HCX migrations, as well as a deep understanding of both VMware and AWS infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and compliant cloud architectures for VMware migrations to AWS.
  • Develop strategic security blueprints and roadmaps for cloud adoption, aligning with business objectives.
  • Define and enforce security policies, standards, and guidelines for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Assess cloud environments for vulnerabilities, manage risks, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Configure and manage network security, identity and access management (IAM), and encryption strategies in AWS.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to embed security best practices into applications and infrastructure (DevSecOps).
  • Perform workload discovery, dependency mapping, and capacity planning for migration projects.
  • Design and implement AWS EC2/EBS architectures for migrated VMs, ensuring high availability.
  • Utilize VMware Cloud on AWS and HCX for network extension and workload mobility.
  • Understand Amazon EKS for container modernization post-migration.
  • Configure and manage AWS networking components including VPC, routing, Direct Connect/VPN, Transit Gateway, and security boundaries.
  • Integrate VMware migrations with AWS monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery services.
  • Leverage Terraform for AWS infrastructure automation and migration tooling.
  • Troubleshoot VM performance, storage mapping, and cross-platform issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the migration lifecycle.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, HA, and SRM.
  • Strong background in VMware migration approaches to AWS EC2 and modernization paths to EKS.
  • Hands-on expertise with VMware Cloud on AWS, HCX migrations, and cross-cloud mobility.
  • Understanding of Java/.NET workload hosting on VMware and dependent middleware like TIBCO ESB.
  • Knowledge of backend DB stack (Oracle 19c, Exadata on AWS, SQL Server) and VM-level considerations.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016-2025 and RHEL 7-9 virtualization dependencies.
  • Proficiency with VMware networking: vSwitch, dvSwitch, VLAN, NSX (preferred).
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as PowerCLI, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for VM performance, storage mapping, and cross-platform issues.
  • Hands-on AWS EC2/EBS design for migrated VMs and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, HCX network extension, and workload mobility.
  • Understanding of Amazon EKS for container modernization after migration.
  • Knowledge of AWS networking: VPC, routing, DX/VPN, TGW, security boundaries.
  • Experience integrating VMware migrations with AWS monitoring, backup, and DR services.
  • Familiarity with Terraform-based AWS infra automation and migration tools.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with cloud security management.
  • Proficiency in automation using Terraform and Ansible.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $120 – $150 per year
