Job Summary:
Our Client, Virginia Tax, is seeking a Web Developer for a 12-month contract role in Richmond, VA. This position focuses on supporting and enhancing their web application portfolio, including legacy systems, with a primary focus on integrating with a new system. The role requires full-lifecycle development, with an emphasis on front-end development using Angular and back-end services using Java. The developer will collaborate with Business System Analysts and IT teams to ensure successful system delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy web applications.
- Implement new features and enhancements.
- Conduct unit testing to ensure code quality.
- Review and contribute to technical designs.
- Ensure applications meet all functional specifications and performance requirements.
- Support Virginia Tax’s web application portfolio, including modern and older legacy systems.
- Modify, enhance, and maintain existing applications.
- Manage the transition to or integration with a new system.
- Implement feature requests, bug fixes, and performance improvements across all systems.
- Leverage Angular for front-end modifications.
- Utilize REST API (Java equivalent) expertise for back-end service integration.
- Analyze and safely modify existing legacy codebases.
- Design and develop robust unit tests.
- Collaborate closely with BSAs and QA teams to ensure all application changes and new integrations adhere to technical specifications and business needs.
- Deliver stable, secure, high-quality updates across the entire application landscape.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Web Developer.
- Strong proficiency in front-end technologies, particularly Angular.
- Experience with back-end development in Java.
- Experience with REST API development and integration.
- Familiarity with full-lifecycle system delivery.
- Experience in analyzing and modifying legacy codebases.
- Proficiency in developing unit tests.
- Strong understanding of web application architecture and design.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Compensation & Location
