Job Summary

Valzo Soft Solutions is seeking a skilled Windows Server Administrator for a contract position in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows Server environments, as well as managing VMware virtualization infrastructure and supporting overall IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Windows Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019/2022). Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and certificate services. Perform OS patching, hardening, and security compliance activities. Troubleshoot OS performance, logs, and system-level incidents.
  • VMware Virtualization: Deploy, configure, and manage VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, clusters, and VM templates. Manage resource pools, DRS, HA, vMotion, storage vMotion, and snapshot lifecycle. Optimize VM performance and capacity planning for CPU, memory, and storage. Perform VMware patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Infrastructure Operations & Support: Support server hardware (Dell/HP/Lenovo) and virtual infrastructure. Handle backup and restore operations using tools like Veeam, Commvault, or NetBackup. Perform incident, problem, and change management following ITIL practices. Conduct monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement security baselines and best practices for Windows and VMware. Ensure compliance with corporate, regulatory, and audit requirements. Manage antivirus, vulnerability scans, and remediation activities.
  • Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, configuration documents, and inventory. Collaborate with network, database, cloud, and application teams. Work with vendors for escalations, support tickets, and hardware replacements.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in Windows Server administration (2012/2016/2019/2022).
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies.
  • Proficiency in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server, HA, DRS, and vMotion.
  • Experience with backup and restore solutions (Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup).
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Understanding of server hardware (Dell/HP/Lenovo).
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.

Secondary Skills (Preferred)

  • Experience with VMware NSX, vSphere Replication, or Horizon.
  • Knowledge of patch automation tools like Tanium, BigFix.
