Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled professional to manage and administer Windows and VMware server environments. This role involves the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022) and VMware vSphere environments. You will be responsible for managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and certificate services. Key duties include performing OS patching, hardening, and security compliance activities, as well as troubleshooting OS performance, logs, and system-level incidents.

In the VMware virtualization aspect, you will deploy, configure, and manage VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, clusters, and VM templates. Management of resource pools, DRS, HA, vMotion, storage vMotion, and snapshot lifecycle is crucial. Optimizing VM performance and capacity planning for CPU, memory, and storage will be part of your responsibilities, along with performing VMware patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.

The role also encompasses Infrastructure Operations & Support, including supporting server hardware (Dell/HP/Lenovo) and virtual infrastructure. You will handle backup and restore operations using tools like Veeam, Commvault, or NetBackup. Incident, problem, and change management following ITIL practices are essential, as is conducting monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning.

Security & Compliance are critical. You will implement security baselines and best practices for Windows and VMware, ensure compliance with corporate, regulatory, and audit requirements, and manage antivirus, vulnerability scans, and remediation activities.

Finally, Documentation & Collaboration are key. You will maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, configuration documents, and inventory. Collaboration with network, database, cloud, and application teams is expected, as is working with vendors for escalations, support tickets, and hardware replacements.

Key Responsibilities:

Skills Required:

  • Primary Skills: Windows Server Administration, VMware Virtualization.
  • Secondary Skills: VMware NSX, vSphere Replication, Horizon, patch automation tools (Tanium, BigFix).
  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies.
  • Proficiency in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server.
  • Experience with backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup).
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices.
  • Understanding of server hardware (Dell, HP, Lenovo).
  • Familiarity with security best practices and compliance.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $50 – $50 per year

Location: Columbus, OH
