WMS Functional QA Analyst Overview
Located in the logistics hub of Memphis, Tennessee, this WMS Functional QA Analyst position is a critical role for a 6-month engagement focused on optimizing warehouse management and supply chain efficiency. As the industry moves toward more automated and integrated fulfillment centers in 2026, your expertise in validating these complex systems will be paramount. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Warehouse Management System (WMS) operates flawlessly, supporting the high-volume demands of modern distribution centers. This role requires a deep understanding of the inventory lifecycle, from initial receiving to final shipping, and the ability to identify potential bottlenecks before they impact the supply chain.
Core Responsibilities and Testing Scope
- Develop and execute detailed test scenarios that cover the entire warehouse workflow, including putaway, picking, and packing.
- Perform rigorous functional and integration testing to ensure that the WMS communicates effectively with TMS and OMS platforms.
- Utilize Oracle SQL to perform backend data validation, ensuring that the physical movement of goods is accurately reflected in the digital records.
- Analyze application logs to perform root cause analysis on system failures or performance lags.
- Collaborate with business and operations teams to ensure that technical solutions meet the practical needs of the Distribution Center (DC).
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and lead defect triage sessions to prioritize and resolve critical issues.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed test scenarios and test cases.
Technical and Domain Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in the Supply Chain domain, specifically focusing on WMS implementations.
- Hands-on experience with Manhattan WMS is highly preferred, along with knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Proficiency in SQL for complex data analysis and validation tasks.
- Familiarity with retail merchandising systems and omnichannel fulfillment strategies.
- Ability to work in an Agile environment, adapting to changing requirements and tight release schedules.
- Strong communication skills to bridge the gap between technical developers and operational staff.
- Experience in developing and executing structured test scenarios, scripts, and procedures.
Preferred Skills and Future Outlook
While the primary focus is functional testing, exposure to automation tools like Selenium with Java or Spring Boot is a significant advantage. As supply chains become more data-driven, the ability to understand and validate integrated retail environments will be a key differentiator. Candidates should be prepared to work onsite in Memphis, engaging directly with the operational teams to gain a first-hand understanding of the challenges faced in a high-capacity distribution center. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge supply chain technology and contribute to the success of a major logistics operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong functional testing background with a domain-driven validation approach.
