Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced Workday Extend Developer for a high-priority, 6-month contract engagement based in Sunnyvale, CA. This role is critical for a major digital transformation project aimed at extending the core capabilities of the Workday Human Resource Management system. The successful candidate will work onsite 5 days a week, collaborating closely with our internal HR technology and IT infrastructure teams. This project involves building bespoke applications that sit directly on the Workday platform, requiring a deep technical understanding of the Workday Extend framework and its integration with broader cloud ecosystems like Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy custom applications using the Workday Extend platform to solve unique business challenges.
  • Build sophisticated UI components using the Workday Extend UI Framework, ensuring a seamless user experience that aligns with Workday’s native interface.
  • Develop complex business logic and orchestration flows using Workday Orchestrate to automate multi-step processes.
  • Implement robust validation rules, calculated fields, and business process frameworks (BPF) to maintain data integrity and compliance.
  • Develop and manage Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to facilitate communication between Workday and external systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications within the Workday ecosystem.
  • Integrate Workday solutions with Microsoft Azure services where applicable to enhance cloud functionality.
  • Perform rigorous testing and debugging of custom-built applications to ensure stability and performance.
  • Document technical designs and provide knowledge transfer to the internal support teams.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Workday Extend Development is mandatory for this role.
  • Strong background in Digital Application Programming Interface (API) design and implementation.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Azure and its integration points with enterprise SaaS platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of Workday Human Resource Management (HRM) modules and core data structures.
  • Experience building UI components within the Workday Extend UI Framework.
  • Ability to develop complex logic using Workday Orchestrate.
  • Familiarity with Workday Business Process Framework (BPF) and calculated fields.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Working in Sunnyvale

This role requires a 100% onsite presence at our Sunnyvale, California facility. Sunnyvale is at the heart of Silicon Valley, offering a premier environment for technology professionals. Compensation & Location

Salary: $175,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)
