Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Workday HCM Core Functional Consultant to join our Tier 2 support and build team. This remote contract role focuses on providing additional capacity for complex Workday functional needs, managing lower-to-mid complexity builds with minimal oversight, and offering expert recommendations to Tier 1 teams. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Workday’s foundational principles and have hands-on experience across HCM, Time & Absence, and Payroll modules.

Core Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain foundational HCM elements, including complex Business Processes, Security Groups, and Notifications.
  • Design and implement advanced Workday Docs, letter templates, questionnaires, and custom alerts to enhance the employee experience.
  • Lead the configuration of Time & Absence plans, managing complex accruals, carryovers, and shadow plans with intricate validation rules.
  • Support Payroll processing by building and maintaining earnings, deductions, account posting rules, and payment election rules.
  • Develop sophisticated Calculated Fields and Custom Reports (Matrix, Trended, Composite) to meet diverse business intelligence requirements.
  • Manage third-party payroll configurations and ensure seamless data flow between Workday and external vendors.
  • Provide technical guidance on Workday API capabilities and integration touchpoints (EIBs, Core Connectors) to ensure ecosystem stability.
  • Interpret and apply payroll regulatory rules to system configurations, ensuring global compliance.

Technical Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in Workday HCM Core, including Onboarding, Change Job, and Termination business processes.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Workday Time Tracking and Absence Management modules.
  • Strong proficiency in Workday Payroll processing, including calculation, completion, and settlement steps.
  • Ability to build, maintain, and troubleshoot complex Security Group permissions and functional area security.
  • Experience with Workday reporting data sources such as Payroll Results and Journal Lines.
  • Excellent analytical skills to diagnose and fix incorrect transactions and provide long-term system optimizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday PRO Certification in HCM, Payroll, or Time & Absence tracks is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 support environment for a global enterprise.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional HR and IT teams in a remote setting.

Special Requirements

Workday PRO certification in relevant tracks is preferred. Remote work environment.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Remote
