About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager with strong Workday Financials expertise to support a major enterprise system implementation for the Department of Human Services (DHS). This role requires close collaboration with Finance, Procurement, State Accounting Office, Department of Administrative Services, and Workday functional leads, as well as third-party vendors. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Workday Financials architecture, finance business processes, and ERP transformation environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate Workday Financial Management and Procurement projects, including implementations, enhancements, integrations, and optimization initiatives.
  • Provide full lifecycle project leadership across Workday Financials modules: General Ledger, Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable, Asset Management, Procurement, Banking & Settlements, and Financial Reporting.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and Procurement business owners to align Workday system design with accounting policies, purchasing workflows, approval hierarchies, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Workday functional leads, integration developers (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors), third-party vendors, and internal SMEs to deliver scalable, compliant solutions.
  • Track Workday configuration, data conversion, integrations, security roles, and end-to-end testing cycles activities.
  • Assist in cutover planning, production readiness activities, and post-production stabilization for Workday Financials and Procurement deployments.
  • Provide continuing direction to the project team, conduct status meetings, assess proposed changes in scope, and recommend courses of action to project sponsors.
  • Facilitate business process assessments and redesign efforts focused on Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Record-to-Report (R2R), Supplier onboarding and management, Spend controls and approval workflows, and Financial reporting optimization.
  • Monitor project milestones and activities, testing cycles, data validation checkpoints, and integration readiness to proactively address schedule or quality risks.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Finance leadership, Procurement leadership, Workday implementation partners, auditors, and internal PMO stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or specialized training and at least three years of IT project management experience.
  • PMP certification from PMI or equivalent certification.
  • 5 years of experience leading projects of moderate to high complexity (must have occurred in the last 7 years).
  • 3 years’ hands-on experience leading server-based application development/enhancement projects (must have occurred in the last 5 years).
  • Hands-on experience with MS Project, MS Visio, SharePoint 2013, and MS O365.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and procurement principles, financial reporting structures, and ERP integrations.
  • Experience within the last 3 years leading/coordinating vendor-managed projects.
  • Executive-level written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in state government is a plus.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Workday Financial Management and Workday Procurement Management.
  • Experience working in an outsourced environment.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $130,000 – $170,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Atlanta, GA
