Role Overview: Workday QA Tester (HCM)
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Workday QA Tester to join our dynamic team for a critical 10-12 month contract engagement in St. Paul, MN. This role is specifically designed for a Quality Assurance professional with deep expertise in the Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) module. Unlike a Business Analyst role, this position focuses strictly on the technical and functional testing aspects of a large-scale Workday implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and performance of the Workday system as it undergoes significant updates and integrations.
Key Responsibilities and Scope
- End-to-End Testing: Lead and execute comprehensive end-to-end testing cycles across multiple Workday functional areas, with a primary focus on HCM, Benefits, and Payroll modules.
- Test Case Development: Design, document, and maintain a robust library of test cases and scenarios. This includes identifying functional gaps and creating new test scripts to cover complex business processes.
- Collaboration with System Integrators: Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, specifically Cognizant, to align testing methodologies and utilize standardized testing tools.
- Defect Management: Take ownership of the defect lifecycle, including identification, logging, triage, and verification of resolutions. Participate in daily triage meetings to prioritize fixes.
- Automation and Manual Testing: While the role is primarily manual, proficiency in Selenium for automated regression testing is highly preferred to enhance testing efficiency.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular status updates to the Workday Implementation Lead, highlighting risks, progress, and quality metrics.
- Onsite Coordination: Attend periodic onsite meetings in St. Paul to coordinate with the project team and system integrator, ensuring seamless communication and project alignment.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of dedicated experience in Quality Assurance or software testing. A strong background in Workday systems is essential, particularly within the HCM domain. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in manual testing techniques and have a solid understanding of script writing for automated testing using Selenium. Experience with defect tracking tools and a thorough understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) are mandatory. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively collaborate with diverse technical and non-technical teams. This position requires a hybrid work schedule, necessitating local residency in the St. Paul, MN area to accommodate 2-4 days of onsite work per week.
Project Impact and Environment
This project represents a significant investment in our enterprise infrastructure. As a Workday Testing Analyst, your contributions will directly impact the success of the implementation, ensuring that the system meets established quality standards and project guidelines. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where quality is prioritized.
